Letzte Wache is a poem by the great German wordsmith Georg Heym (1887 – 1912) a leading poet of the expressionist movement akin to such luminaries as Rimbaud and Baudelaire. Here is a lament, a funerary dirge, a mournful passing. This is added to the Digital version of Decollate as a bonus track.
lyrics
Letzte Wache
Wie dunkel sind deine Scläfen,
Und deine Hände so schwer.
Bist du schon weit von dannen,
Und hörst mich nicht mehr.
Unter dem flackenden Lichte
Bist du so traurig und alt,
Und deine Lippen sind grausam
In ewiger Starre gekrallt.
Morgen schon ist hier das Schweigen
Und vielleicht in der Luft
Noch das Rascheln von Kränzen
Und ein verwesender Duft
Aber die Nächte werden
Leerer nun, Jahr um Jahr.
Hier wo dein Haupt lag, und leise
Immer dein Atem war.
Last Watch
How dark are your temples
And how heavy your hands.
Far now you have traveled
Where my words do not sound.
Under the flame that wavers
So sad and old you lie,
Your lips clenched forever
In bitter fixity
Tomorrow will come a silence
And the air hold a faint
Rustle still perhaps of garlands
And a decaying scent.
But hollower now year by year
Will nights be left
Here where your heal lay and always
You breathed so soft.

"Overall, Empires Of Ash is a very impressive album, the best so far in the Sojourner discography, although it's early days as Sojourner are still a relatively new band. The atmosphere is majestic, and there is no shortage of beautiful melodies. The theme behind the songwriting may not be entirely orignal, but the way Sojourner produce this music stands out, making it worthy enough to be mentioned alongside Caladan Brood and Summoning."

This is one of the most impressive bands I’ve ever listened. Everything in this album is perfect. It’s raw, melodious, incredibly dark and cold. This has to be one of my favorite albums of all time. Hails ! dono_

PSA: if there was an album you heard a couple years ago and thought it was ok, listen to it again and you might love it.
That's what happened to me with this album. I cannot fathom why it didn't stick with me back then. Same thing happened with Decoherence's Unitarity for that matter. Matten
